Bought this to do clothes and new curtains. Got the steel head for durability. Easy to put together and begin use. Does fantastic on clothes and can even use it as a steam iron with an ironing board. Curtains just okay if they are already hung. Will not do 84 inch curtains. The five foot hose will not reach the top of the curtain unless you put the entire machine on a chair. Once you turn it on, it's ready to steam in 2 to 3 minutes. The wood handle does get a bit hot after about 30 minutes of use. But it will continue to work for quite a long time on just one thankful. I did five panels of 84 inch curtains and still had about a quarter tank. Wish it had a longer hose and a trigger to start and stop steam instead of it being on all the time until turned off. Great machine though.
I bought this steamer about 1 month ago. Ag first I was going to buy from anther source. At that source they didn’t have the metal head available. So at first I bought the metal head and hose for this steamer. Then I decided to buy this steamer with the plastic head. I have used both the metal and the plastic. I think I like the metal better. It acts like an iron too. The metal head does a better job on the hem of my denim skirts. I will keep the plastic too. It is easy to switch hoses. I always ironed my clothes. I don’t think I will be ironing any more. I use distilled water as my tap water is very hard. The steamer heats up in less than a minute. You have to buy protection gloves for your hands. Also the steamer is light weight and on wheels. I did a lot of research before I bought this steamer. It is rated very high. I am glad I decided to buy a more expensive steamer. I've had the travel steamer for over 10 years and finally had the space to invest in the J-2000 and am SO glad that I did! I even hauled the J-2000 to the hotel where I got ready for my wedding and didn't think twice about hauling a full-size steamer! The J-2000 is very easy to use and heats up quickly. For those novice steamers, it's best to steam the garment from the underside avoiding the steam, focusing on the tightest wrinkles first. I like to hold the garment taut while I steam it. We haven't used an iron in years! This steamer is worth EVERY penny, and it's also a great gift idea!
