We have traveled extensively for over 50 years and have owned many travel steamers, and purchased a Jiffy Travel Steamer 10 years ago. Do not confuse this steamer with the dozens of inferior steamers that are made overseas. This unit is built to last and always makes short work of our wrinkled travel clothing.
I've used many different handheld steamers to touch up garments for display, and have never been happy with any of them. This one is a game changer - steam is nice and even, and jobs get done much faster with better results. I am now using one at home for alteration projects and buying them as gifts.
The travel steamer was in my hotel room at PGA resort. I liked it so much I took pictures so I could buy it.
I was able to treat multiple articles of clothing before running low on water.
The heat up time was surprisingly fast. No spurting like the imported brand I have at home.
I was really impressed by how quickly this steamer worked. Each shirt I steamed was wrinkle-free in a minute or less.
It works well on collared button-up shirts (gets the middle fabric around the buttons to lay down nicely) and on my shirts with ruffle fronts. The ruffles get all mushed after they are washed and they are a pain to iron, but this steamer worked really well to make them ruffly again.
I also liked how simple this steamer is. It is basically a teapot with a really big mouth. It does not even have an "on" button! You just plug it in and 15 seconds to 2 minutes later it starts steaming. You don't have to use special water either.
Using this steamer was great, just like taking an eraser and just wiping away the wrinkles.
I was nervous to purchase this as it seemed a bit pricey. But after reading the reviews on multiple sources I was convinced this was the one I needed. I was interested in something small and easy. And this is exactly what I was looking for. It works great and is super simple to use. I would definitely recommend it for somebody who wants to unwrinkle their clothes. It will only unwrinkle two or three t-shirts at a time but that's exactly what I needed. If you're looking to unwrinkle multiple close daily this might not be the one for you.
This is bar-none the best travel steamer on the market. I like it so much I'm on my second one (I used the first one overseas and broke it - btw that's a bad idea, make sure you get a voltage converter!). I travel nearly constantly and have used many different models of travel steamers. Most of them break after 6 months to a year of use. As far as I can tell this one works pretty much indefinitely (unless you do something stupid like plug it in to a 240 volt plug in India like I did). The box it comes in is hilarious - straight out of the 1970's or something. You can tell its one of those "if it's not broken don't fix it" products, like Kirby vacuums. Nothing fancy here - it boils water which creates steam. That's it and as far as I'm concerned that's perfect. I can steam my clothes for the next day in 5 minutes or less. I absolutely hate irons and ironing boards. One pass with the Esteam and my clothes look completely unwrinkled. So, go ahead and bite the bullet and invest in this product. It's more than other travel steamers but you get what you pay for and this product is absolutely worth every penny.
Although I have an excellent quality Rowenta iron, pulling out an ironing board every time I needed to iron something turned into a big PITA and I don’t have anywhere to keep it set up. So I asked friends and they all said “get a steamer!”. I work for a major clothing retailer and they use the Jiffy pro in their stores. Sure, I’d love one, but spending hundreds of $ is crazy for personal use and it takes about 10 minutes for the huge water chamber to heat up. So when researching the Jiffy I came across the personal hand-held size and thought it might be a good choice since (once they’re up to temp and working) the pro model works great. The selling point for me - IT COMES IN PINK. So my husband won’t run off with it (he travels a lot for work).
Sure, I know I can go to a major retailer and get a little hand-held steamer for a lot less, but there’s features about this one that makes it better. Filling it with water is super easy. The steam cap pops off with a quick twist and the opening is plenty big to either fill it under a tap or a container (I use filtered tap water and fill a 32oz empty seltzer bottle since I use this in my bedroom.)
It heats up in about 2 minutes and holds enough water to well steam 2-3 items, such as a pair of pants, shirt, and a jacket.
Emptying when you’re done is super easy. Again, twist off the cap and pour it out. This is recommend so the water inside doesn’t get skunky, wich can make clothes stinky, and some water sources have minerals and gunk in them that can make inside the steamer gross. The directions say to wait until the unit has cooled but I wait until the water stops boiling and then dump it very carefully so I don't get scalded. Then I stand it upside down on the edge of my sink to dry.
The cord is heavy duty and wraps around the steamer, and the plug end has a clip so it attaches to the cord and keeps it wound up and tidy.
And god forbid anything should ever go wrong with it, such as dropping and cracking the steamer cap, Jiffy sells individual parts.
I expect to have this thing for the rest of my life, it’s that freakin awesome.
Absolutely love my Jiffy Steamers both j2000 model and Esteam. Esteam is perfect for all my travels-small and lightweight and steams my clothes fast. The j2000 model is great for our apt. Easy assembly and doesn't take much space. Also steams my husbands suits nicely too.
