ValueI've had this steamer for several years. It was a gift from my mom who also has one. It was recommended to her by a friend who owned a dress shop for 30+ years...it's all they used in the shop.
I only have one issue...the metal steam head has caused pulls on some of my silk shirts. I can't feel a rough spot on the steamer head, but it must be there.
My mom has a plastic head on hers. I'm on the website today to purchase a plastic head for mine to replace this one that has damaged a few of my shirts.
My recommendation is to go with the plastic steamer head. Not sure what the benefit of the metal, more expensive one is anyway. I'm sure my mom thought more expensive equaled better, so she got me the best she could get knowing it would last me forever.Reviewer: Adavid | Posted on 12/16/2015Recommended by a salesperson at a clothing retailer
ValueMy husband and I had been considering buying a steamer for a while and were prepared to pay for a good one because I'd read negative reviews and heard from friends who had purchased disappointing mid-grade or portable steamers. While recently shopping in a Tommy Bahama store we noticed the store manager using this steamer and asked if it worked well. She raved about it and demonstrated its effectiveness on different fabrics throughout the store. Tommy Bahama doesn't sell the steamer but we joked that Jiffy should give her a sales commission (or at least a free steamer). She said she has used the J-2 model (which has an easy access water reservoir) at home and in retail settings for years. We went home and ordered ours that night. We've only had it for a week but have thus far been very pleased with it. While guiding it across the fabric wrinkles almost seem to melt away. We haven't figured out if there's a way to use it to press flat the bottoms of shirts or shorts (that tend to flip up when washed) but otherwise the results have been great and it sure saves time over ironing.Reviewer: MW | Posted on 9/2/2015Much better than ironing ValueWorks great-heats up quickly. Tubing gets quite hot too so you need to be careful. Have used it multiple times and have no complaints. Much better than ironingReviewer: Brent S | Posted on 5/30/2015Works great! Very pleased ValueWorks great! Very pleased!!! I have had a few inexpensive steamers which really did not work and this one does.Reviewer: jimmie burks | Posted on 5/18/2015I cannot verbalize how great I think the Jiffy Steamer is. ValueI have just ordered a steamer for my daughter. I purchased my mother one when I was in high school 30 years ago. I bought my steamer 25 years ago. Now that my daughter is married, it is time to get her one. I have not used an iron in all those 25 years. I cannot verbalize how great I think the Jiffy Steamer is. I take great pride in getting my daughter a Jiffy for her home. Our three generations of devoted Jiffy Steamer users thank you for such a wonderful product.Reviewer: Jackie Johnson | Posted on 5/13/2014Quality product if you know what to expect out of a steamer. ValueI've had a cheap $50 steamer before and it would start and sputter steam in spurts but nonetheless the concept of steaming being a a viable option for clothes maintenance stuck because when it worked the results were more than acceptable. A few years go by and of course the cheap steamer saw it's lifecycle complete and left the household for a few reasons; it would continuously require resetting because of clogs/deposits internally even after repeated vinegar cleaning, the plastic tabs that hold the garment rack up started cracking. I bring up these points because those were the weak points and I'm happy to say those things are addressed in this "pro" model by Jiffy. First, let's start with what results you can expect to see with a steamer. No, it will most likely not deliver pressed and creased crispness of a proper ironing. Let's get that out of the way, short of some cultivated skill using this thing you will not get the same results of ironing. On the other hand, you will also likely not burn or singe your clothing and you can use this for a wider variety of clothing. I work in a business casual environment so my primary usage is for dress shirts and khaki/dress pants. Tried the steamer on some dryer mangled dress shirts that sat in my closet for some time and they went from unwearably wrinkly to....not wrinkled but not exactly pressed either but perfectly wearable now for a day in the office. Now this is a pretty extreme scenario because of the shirt starting point. I also used it on shirts that I had worn once in the office and showed normal wrinkling/wear from a day at the office and the steamer got those wrinkles out very quickly and thus extending the time period when that shirt needed to be laundered again. So in summary for shirts; it can either turn something back into wearable state or prolong wear but if your job or occasion requires perfect pin point pressing use an iron. Onward to pants, the thicker fabric seemed to work better with the steamer and again no pressed results but rather a wrinkle-less flow/drape instead. Perfectly fine in a business casual environment. I also intend to use it to freshen up sweaters and the wife's more delicate dresses, skirts, etc. I have a feeling that female clothing would see more usage since most pieces like frilly shirts or intricate dresses can't be ironed per se. Now to the steamer itself; it is absolutely built a like a rock. The hose coupling is metal and even comes with a magnetic wrench to make sure it's tight. the rack stand is solid metal and features screw on connections; no clips to fail down the line. The hose is a thick rubber that's flexible no matter hot or cold ( the cheap steamer hose was hard when cold). I ordered the metal steam head for longevity but also noticed that it got so hot that it helped to have an ironing effect to some degree. Don't understand why one would bother with plastic when everything else is obviously built for longevity. The actual steam part? Filled the gallon jug up halfway and got steam within 60-90 seconds and a steady stream of steam came out for the next hour or so and when I finally called it quits it wasn't empty yet either. In summary, impressive hardware and above average results if you know what to expect with a steamer. Final advice, be careful with this thing as it gets HOT!Reviewer: BuyItOnce | Posted on 11/4/2013Great Steamer ValueI first used a steamer like this at my daughter's house. I just loved it! This steamer works so great on just about everything that needs that just pressed look. The wrinkles just fall out with a few passes of the steaming wand. It is best for those times when you want to get the wrinkles out that have been caused by being scrunched in the closet or maybe you didn't get the article of clothing out of the dryer in time. There are still some things of course that need an iron but for the most part this steamer does the trick.Reviewer: Marsha Siegel | Posted on 10/14/2013LOVE this steamer!! ValueHaving never used a steamer before, but needing one desperately, I did a search on steamers. I'll be honest - thought this one was entirely too expensive but bought it anyway based on reviews and recommendations (a reviewer said that the metal head is better than the plastic one because the metal head gets hot and "irons" the fabric too). I LOVE getting my clothes ready for work! Don't know *how* I've managed to live without one of these puppies for this long. Steam starts flowing within a couple of minutes and keeps going steady the entire time. The black hose gets pretty warm, as does the steamer head. Follow everyone's advice and steam from the inside out. It's a beautiful sight to see wrinkles *FALL* out of clothing. It's easy to use and intuitive (e.g., keep fingers away from steam).Reviewer: Bindak | Posted on 6/6/2013Best steamer ever ValueI have been looking at this product for almost six months before I bought it. I found it to be a little pricey for me, so I started buying cheaper steamers and I HATED ever single one of them. The other steamers produced hot steam, but they didn't remove ANY wrinkles. I was beginning to loose faith in all steamers until I found the Jiffy at a good price. I finally bought it and I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. It is amazing and it does exactly what it says it will do. It is easy to use and so much faster than ironing and all the other steamers I have used.Reviewer: Jackee Lauzon | Posted on 6/4/2013High quality machine ValueI hate ironing shirts. my coworker suggested a steamer. so I decided to spend just a bit more and buy what I hoped would be a good unit. this jiffy steamer is the real deal. unit is very well made and solid....made in the USA. i got this J-2 unit and if it is the original ....I can understand the manufacturers success. this steamer takes up little space, generates lots of high pressure steam and will pay for itself in no time, when compared to dry cleaning. after you get the hang of steaming ....you will never iron again. its so great that you will steam every thing in your closet, because its twice as fast & much less laborious than ironing. it cost more than most units ,but its totally worth it . professional grade machine. once you own a steamer.........you will wonder how you got along with out one. a must for nice clothing. ironing is dead.Reviewer: Ronn Royster | Posted on 11/21/2012Got this steamer in the early '90s ValueI love this steamer! I've had it since the early 90s and it is still going strong. In the beginning it took a while to get used to the fact that it wasn't an iron. Lol. I would definitely buy another if this one stopped working. After all these years the handle is just starting to leak a few drops when steaming but it has been a wonderful product.Reviewer: Elcee | Posted on 5/17/2012Thank you for your fine product ValueI have recently purchased your Jiffy® Model J-2 steamer. It is more than a fine steamer, for me it is a revelation. Thank you for your fine product.Reviewer: Clem Artist | Posted on 2/17/2012Amazing ValueAs a fashion student with extensive experience in retail, I would consider myself an authority on steamers and irons. I was able to get this steamer from the store I used to work at when they relocated. It heats up very quickly and is super easy to use. The only downside is that when you're steaming the base tends to move around a bit on its wheels, but I wouldn't let that deter you from purchasing it. Jiffy steamers are the best, and every retailer I've worked for uses Jiffy. They're well made and last for years. Mine has been in constant use, for hours every day to steam the clothes in the store, for about five years. Now I certainly don't use it as much as it was used in the store, but it's still in great condition. This steamer is a great investment.Reviewer: fashiongirl | Posted on 2/1/2012
