Falling Back into Fall Fabrics

The weather is starting to shift from hot to cooler, which means its almost time to exchange summer fabrics for fall ones. If your clothes have been tucked away for storage since spring, now’s a great time to pull out those fall favorites and prep them for this season!

Cardigans, sweaters, scarves, hats, skirts: knitwear comes in all shapes and sizes to keep you warm and comfortable on a cool fall day. Any knitwear that’s lost its shape can be reshaped and gently steamed to restore it to its previous knitted glory. If you’re crafty, now is a great time to start a new knitting or crocheting project to wear this season.

Corduroy pants

Vests for layering, blazers for business meetings, your favorite vintage-styled overalls: corduroy is a classic fabric of fall. Lint sticking to the fabric can be removed with a clothing and upholstery brush. Grab your Jiffy Steamer and steam away any wrinkles that may have occurred from storage. Consider sewing ribbon hanger loops onto skirts and pants to protect them from hanger clip marks prior to hanging.

Suede Shoes

Our flip-flops have gotten significant use over the summer, but nothing compares to the the cozy-comfort of soft suede shoes. Depending on how you’ve stored them, your suede shoes might only need gentle dusting with a suede brush. For extra protection, spray the shoes lightly with a water and stain protector before wearing them, brushing them both before and after. You can clean troublesome grease stains with warm water, followed by cornstarch and light steaming the next morning.

Regardless of the fall fabric that most tickles your fancy, you can care for all of your favorite fall clothes with one of our personal clothing steamers. If you hit the road often for business or personal travel, you'll get the most use out of the Jiffy ESTEAM Travel Steamer. As fall clothing incorporates more fabric, your Jiffy Steamer will ensure every inch of your garments are flawless.
